But we went to the same school

My old friend Carlo has gone under more than one metamorphosis - I am starting to consider myself lucky that I made it out in time....

Slight deviation from the standard topic but....

Come on, the worldcup happens once every four years...and Italy seems to do well every 12. So allow me to indulge...

Also technically i am trying something out here (YouTube.com)

Have a look at these and appreciate the different approaches to the goals.

The first gol commented in Italian

The first gol of Grosso commented in German

Both goals from Peru "dos goles para guardar en un museo..."

Not sure where this is from but is very passionate

Sky Italia's comment to both goals. Preparate le valigie che andiamo a berlino...

Finally some pics of the celebrations that followed...

Back from the sick bed...

What a great beginning of the year this has been...

Finally on the way to recovery from glandular fever. It has been a pretty quiet christmas break - really not what I was planning for.

Once back in the UK I had an interesting couple of weeks going through the reorg and unfortunatelly I had to say good bye to some good people.

But today is a good day, the sun shines, I feel better, I am in London and I have just been to Microsoft Life squared event that will be the subject of my next post.

Ciao ciao

The joys of commuting

Posted by Picasa

Just when you thought that the January blues couldn't get much heavier...

On a more serious note, I have been thinking about something I read on Om (I think) around the flickrisation of Yahoo. At some point in the article there was a justaposition of concepts and approaches in the search world between "tagging" (Flickr, Delicious etc) and the "cold mathematical approach" of Pagerank.

I guess the big question is, are there enough taggers (are we all taggers?) to improve the accuracy of a Tagged search versus a Pagerank. Or.... is the web going to come alive?

Dark Blog - Am I the prince of darkness?

Result... I managed to start the first interactive forum within the firewall of my employer.

It's not really a blog but it is a start, it is based on expensive MS technology (Sharepoint) which is great as it allows lots of cool stuff like "meeting sites" with tasks, calendar etc, Surveys, Document share points and of course discussion forums.

The down side I think is the user interface - I don't find it "obvious".

Anyone has any exaples expericences they want to share on how to really push sharepoint?

Never the less I am happy it was one of my objectives, personal ones, as I am fashinated to follow how and if this tool will allow us to innovate. I will share some results, on this blog.

Ciao

I stream, You Stream, We all stream for a nice stream

Read this post from one of my favourite Blogs if you may.

I discussed it with the poor people at work that have to listen to me and here is my question.

With very broad band becoming available (Bulldog, UK OnLine etc), and with wider spread of WiFi technologies and P2P technologies like www.bittorrent.com/ I was wondering how long before as you broadcast your satellite TV from the set top box to your Plasma screen using 802.xx.  At that point a feed could be hijacked and “re-originated” by a near by P2P gateway.  Interesting area for digital Digital Rights

But what if the very broad band will bring upheaval to the DVD and Cable Channels in the same way it did to music?

With regards to premium TV content future:    Free-ish/Freeview version Sky sports to the (naughty P2P) consumer and an even more expensive license to public places/bars etc?  Or instead a truly micro pay per view?  With out the need for a true a subscription.

Thoughts?

Ciao, I am off to show some IP on the road
